Bowling Rules

Objective of the game

The aim of bowling is simple: to knock down as many pins as possible in two throws or less, over ten consecutive innings called “frames”. An ideal game for beginners and experts alike, and accessible to all, including children, thanks to the children’s barriers and lightweight balls.

Key terms

  • Frame : An inning, consisting of a maximum of two throws.
  • Strike :  When all the pins fall in a single throw.
  • Spare :  When all the pins fall in two throws.
  • Split :    A configuration of pins difficult to reach after the first throw.

Score calculation

  • Classic frame : The score corresponds to the number of pins knocked down.
  • Strike :  10 points, plus the number of pins knocked down in the next two throws.
  • Spare :  10 points, plus the number of pins knocked down in the next throw.
  • Tenth frame : In the event of a strike or spare, the player is awarded additional throws to complete his score.

Game sequence

Each player takes a turn on the stride line, throws the ball towards the pins, and lets the machine automatically calculate the points. To progress, it’s essential to understand how points are calculated, which adds a touch of strategy to the game.

Game modes and formulas

Individual : Each player plays for his or her own score.
Team : Scores are accumulated, creating a group dynamic.
Tournaments : Official competitions are organized for enthusiasts, with specific rules.

Strategies to improve your score

To maximize your bowling score, keep these tips in mind:

  • Aim for the center pins: They make it easier for the others to fall.
  • Control ball rotation: Good rotation improves accuracy.
  • Take a deep breath and go! : Helps keep the ball on course.
